Hello Fellow Pumpers!
We look forward to seeing you in person in San Diego or remotely via Zoom.
Check out our newsletter and diabetes resources at sdinsulinpumpers.org.
IN PERSON: We hold our in-person meeting at the Sharp Spectrum Building in Kearny Mesa at 8695 Spectrum Center Drive from 7–9 pm. We have a new meeting space at the Sharp Spectrum building. Starting in January 2025 we moved to a new boardroom. It is on the left side of the main lobby and has an outside direct entrance from the parking lot. The room will open at 6:30 pm for visiting before the meeting. The walkway to the outside entrance is located in front of the handicap parking and has a railing along the sidewalk.
VIA ZOOM: Please join us via Zoom if you can’t attend in person. The meeting link is posted below. As always, significant others, friends, and family supporters are welcome at the meeting.
We hold our meetings on the 2nd Monday of every month from 7-9 pm.
We have moved our blog from sdinsulinpumpers.blogspot.com to sdinsulinpumpers.org.
Look for the link in the old blog and announcements in future newsletters.
This Month: Meghan Brown and Conner Kelly, with Eversense sensors, will speak with us in person. Dr. Fran Kaufman, Chief medical officer of Ascensia, will join on Zoom to give a quick clinical update. This is a great opportunity to learn about the only implantable CGM sensor. Bring your questions! We will have Open Discussion after the presentation (if time permits).
Last Month: We had a great meeting with Mark Hutchinson, MiniMed Territory Manager, and Tara Stanz MS, RD, CDCES. Medtronic’s Instinct sensor (a variant of Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 technology) integrates with the MiniMed™ 780G pump to provide a 15-day wear with a 1-hour warm-up. MiniMed will replace any sensors that fail.
Their infusion set will last seven days. Several other types of infusion sets are available to choose from. The Mini Med 780G has meal-detection technology and corrects every five minutes. The mobile apps run on Apple phones and watches version 10 and up. A free 30 day trial is available. Software updates are available under warranty. Mark and Tara’s contact information is on the Pump club site.

Grownup T1Ds
Check out our website grownupt1ds.org for events in So Cal, Denver, and Boston. The Grownup T1Ds in-person meetups are for adults living with type 1 diabetes. These afternoons are relaxed, welcoming, and genuinely uplifting — the kind where conversations flow easily, laughter comes quickly, and you leave feeling lighter than when you arrived. No agenda. No presentations. Just real connection with people who truly understand life with T1D.
Connected in Motion
SoCal Slipstream 2026 is an adult T1D “summer camp” weekend being held this year on October 16-18. This one is local, at a campground in Imperial Beach. Similar to the ONE Conference, they have lots of talks, lots of activity, and lots of camaraderie, but with camp cabins instead of hotel rooms. They provide a fun, educational, and relaxing weekend conquering T1.
