May 11th Meeting: Latest Updates on Tandem Pumps

Hello Fellow Pumpers!

We look forward to seeing you in person if you are in the San Diego area or via Zoom.

We have transitioned from our blog to a website sdinsulinpumpers.org. Check out the website and new content. The monthly newsletter and meeting Zoom link are posted by the 6th of each month.

IN PERSON: We hold our in-person meetings on the 2nd Monday of every month from 7–9 pm at the Sharp Spectrum Building in Kearny Mesa at 8695 Spectrum Center Drive. We meet in the boardroom on the left side of the main lobby. It has an outside entrance direct from the parking lot; no need to go through the building lobby. The walkway to the outside entrance has a railing and is in front of the handicap parking. We open the room at 6:30 pm for visiting before the meeting.

VIA ZOOM: Please join us via Zoom if you can’t attend in person. The meeting link is posted below. As always, significant others, friends, and family supporters are welcome at the meeting.

This Month: Molly Yarcusko and Rebecca Ponchetti (North County) and Kerri Orr and Elise Edwards (San Diego) will give us the latest updates on Tandem pumps. Bring your questions! We will have Open Discussion after the presentation (if time permits).

Last Month: Matt Besley, Senior Territory Business Manager of Beta Bionics, gave us an update on the iLet pump. This is a great pump for those that want a pump that doesn’t require much management. The pump adjusts insulin every 5 minutes, is approved for use with Fiasp insulin, offers prefilled cartridges, has three infusion set options, and enhanced Bluetooth reception. You can share your blood sugars with up to 10 people. You can find Matt’s contact information on the iLet pump page of our website.

Grownup T1Ds

Check out the website grownupt1ds.org for events in So Cal, Denver, and Boston. The Grownup T1Ds in-person meetups are for adults living with Type 1 diabetes. The meetings are relaxed, welcoming, and genuinely uplifting – the kind where conversations flow easily, laughter comes quickly, and you leave feeling lighter than when you arrived. No agenda. No presentations. Just real connection with people who truly understand life with T1D.

Someone once told Kelly they were nervous walking into their first Grownup T1Ds meeting. They stepped into a sports bar, looked around… and saw robot parts everywhere. And just like that, they knew they were in the right place! And yes… the beeps, buzzes, and alarms are completely welcome.

Connected in Motion

SoCal Slipstream 2026 is an adult T1D “summer camp” weekend being held this year on October 16–18. This one is local, at a campground in Imperial Beach. Like the ONE Conference, they have lots of talks, lots of activity, and lots of camaraderie, but with camp cabins instead of hotel rooms. They provide a fun, educational, and relaxing weekend conquering T1.
